Cross Over to Jesus

Cross Over 2 Jesus is the name of our Religious Education Program for students in 7th and 8th Grade. These two important years prepare them to receive their Confirmation (final Sacrament of Initiation) and to live as adult Catholics. It is most important that their faith becomes real to them and that they embrace their Catholic Identity as they move ahead into their high school years and beyond.

Each session begins with a Teaching Mass. The music is contemporary and up-beat, and the homily is directed to them. Each Reading is explained in a way that they can understand and incorporate into their daily living.

After Mass they remain in the Church for a large group Bible Story Presentation. Using music and videos, the story comes alive for them and the lesson/teaching is relevant to the issues, concerns and struggles that they deal with as middle school students.

After the presentation, they go to their classrooms where they continue with small group learning and discussion. It is in the classroom where they have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss.

Each session meets every other week and in between the children complete an online session with questions about Catholic Doctrine and the Bible.
