Tuesday October 10 - Week 27

God uses some Divine Persuation and does a whale of a job casting his line and reeling Jonah in to seeing things His way.  He may not have undertaken his new responsibilites of prophet to the people of Nineveh with best attitude and intentions, however, surprisingly he was quite successful and the whole city, even the King repented in sackcloth and ashes.  Not surprisingly however, we will see that Jonah did not relish his success.  It does prove though that if we get out of the way and let God use us, great things can happen.

In the Gospel, we hear the all too familar complaint of Martha about Mary, how come I have to do all the work and SHE can just sit there and do nothing.  We hear that all the time in families in particular, I take care of Mom and Dad and my siblings do nothing.

We all have different gifts and talents and God uses them in various times in our lives for the benefits of others.  Even within families there are some who possess the abilities to do what another sibling cannot... this causes friction as with Martha and Mary. A question that we need to ask if we find ourselves in a similar situation of someone in need; if I don't do this, then who will?
